An incident that took place on November 25 eerily reminded residents of Faridabad that a tragedy of house-collapse like the one that took place in Laxmi Nagar can happen in their backyard as well.

Recently a concrete structure connecting two apartments in Sector 41, in the Green Valley society, namely Jasmine and Lavender gave way and came crashing down. In the process it hit a car parked below, and the car has been damaged below.

“We were standing and suddenly a huge block of concrete fell down from the top and smashed the car. Thankfully, there was no one in the car at that point of time. This is also an area where small kids are usually spotted playing, so the incident could have taken a dangerous turn.” says Vimal Joshi, a witness.

“When we came to this society, everything seemed very sound to us but slowly we started noticing problems like cracks in the wall etc. We are even paying the maintenance charges on a timely basis but think everything is in vain.” says Karan Arora, a resident of the society.

Dheeraj Sikka, Joint Secretary, Green Valley RWA says, “ We have filed an FIR against the builder and will survey all the apartment now.”

A police official said, “ we will look into the matter and take appropriate action against the builder.”
