Lifts-Elevator Safety and Brands used in Flats/Apartments

Postby brandoo » Tue Dec 25, 2012 7:15 pm

Dear All,

Recently in Ghaziabad elevator came crashing many floors. This prompted me to think about the quality of elevators and safety issues. We can also discuss the technicalities of elevators (mechanism etc). Can we list brand of elevators installed in Greater Faridabad? What are the good brands: Otis, Kone, Hitachi etc. Good can be defined as reliability, safety, maintenance issues and service.

Omaxe Spa Village: Hitachi elevators are installed (are currently under installation)

Haryana is having good law with regards to lifts and escalators as it is having lot of high rises. I am not sure whether it is properly implemented by authorities. Lifts and escalators are governed by THE HARYANA LIFTS AND ESCALATORS ACT, 2008 (attached). If law is properly followed, then there should not be any issue.

Thank you Dheeraj Ji for sharing act and providing insights.
I am trying to see what are the best brands available in the market and whether same are making it to Neharpar high rises or not. Is there any difference in the mechanism (different type)? If, then what can be termed as safest (relatively)?
I urge all the members to list down the brand of elevator installed in their building, perception about or technical (as many are techies) reliability. Issues faced so far by them (can be any issue related to elevator such as switches not working, difficulty in operating under emergency and service response including cost, time taken to repair the same etc.
Best

Kone is thought to be good. We had them at IIT Mumbai hostel 12-13. Used to be good.

We have:
OH: Thyssenkrupp
OSV: Hitachi
RPS Savana: Kone.

Please add to user interface experience.

Guys no updates about the elevators. I guess since 2012 we have seen many offer for possession and few more are in the pipeline. Do update about the brands of elevators installed and issues faced in the GF so for.

Ajay I second you on the maintenance part. It will be interesting to see how companies react during warranty and afterwards. Generally during warranty, most companies are little slow but once warranty is over, they are pretty fast but cost bomb. I read on IREF in Ghaziabad forum that lift fell, this wasn't isolated incident, there were 2-3 incidents all in Ghaziabad.
