NAVI MUMBAI: Officials from the town planning department of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) have said that they will try to make minor changes in their plans to use eight plots owned by the City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco). RTI activist Sandeep Thakur had questioned the civic body’s intention behind changing the use of these plots in February.

“There is clearly nothing in NMMC’s record to demonstrate the need for the changes being proposed,” he said.

The civic body had earlier sought suggestions from residents for its proposal to change the use of these plots.

“It has been decided that the proposal to have an iconic structure instead of a garden on the Koparkhairane dumping ground will be altered. Now, the plot will also have a public garden,” said an official. Civic commissioner Abbasaheb Jarhad said that due consideration will be given to all objections.
